Dr. Fandel's Story
I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. I was raised by a mother who practiced Chinese Medicine, and due to that she would treat us with Chinese herbs and such when we got sick, but then would take us to our pediatrician for other health care needs. I grew up with the idea that medicine and health can be a cohesive blending of conventional modalities and non conventional modalities, finding the right balance is key.
I went to collage to pursue a science degree because I wanted to become a doctor, but when it came time to start looking into medical schools I knew I needed to learn a form a medicine was in line with how I was raised. That is when I discovered Naturopathic Medicine, and Bastyr University, and their curriculum and the philosophy that Naturopathic Medicine is based upon fit with what I knew was right for me.
